Hosted by banjo-playing, songwriting pals Anthony Ihrig and Mother Banjo, the Back Catalog Listening Party is a weekly musical happy hour, featuring top folk, roots and Americana musicians.
Each show is recorded live with an online audience and features songs, stories and lively discussions about the writing, recording and production of an album from the featured artist’s back catalog. Together they dig into the “live liner notes” that you can’t get anywhere else.

Launched in March of 2020, the Back Catalog Listening Party started out on YouTube as a weekly way to gather artists and music-loving people together during the pandemic.
Quickly finding an audience of folks who enjoyed geeking out about the ins and outs of creating and recording music, the show took on a life of its own, and soon a Patreon community sprung up to support the show. Even as things opened up and live in-person shows returned, it became clear that there was still a desire for folks to listen to music together and for artists to be able to spotlight and talk about their older work with their fans.
The Back Catalog Listening Party has continued to grow, and now the show has evolved into an audio podcast so that folks can easily access these unique conversations and hear the best audio versions of the songs. Look for new episodes wherever you get your podcasts every Friday at 4pm CDT — a great way to kick off your weekend!
